Bathurst Rifle Club Inc. 4th May 2019. 500yds. L Williams Cup.

After a pleasant sunny morning a brisk SW wind developed during the afternoon and with increasing cloud cover made shooters scramble for whatever warm clothing they could find in their vehicles. The wind was variable in both strength and direction and was reflected in the scores posted on the day.

With several TR shooters away only 3 competed for the 500-yard trophy. Gordon Shepherd returning from a couple of weeks R&R showed the way dropping 4 bullseyes due to the fickle breeze. Second was Graeme Bright two points behind Shepherd and Ron Gibson two points further back.

The F class event attracted 5 competitors and the days cock of the walk was won by Phil Mahon. This was Phil’s first win and with his new rifle should provide extra competition in this category into the future.

The next 3 places were closely run with Graham Willis just pipping Ben Wright by a super centre with Col Howell one point further back. Last weeks cock of the walk, Jeff Eppleston, using an ‘old’ new rifle was this week’s distant feather duster.

Anyone interested in trying long range shooting are most welcome to attend and use the club rifle from 1pm most Saturdays. Please visit the club website (www.brc.org.au) for additional Club information including the shooting calendar.

Next week we will be competing at 600 yards.
