Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 4th June 2022, W Northcott Memorial Trophy 700 yards.

Saturdays competition for the W Northcott Memorial Trophy from 700 yards was held in cold and overcast conditions with a mostly westerly breeze that gave some steady patches to allow most shooters to score above their range handicap. A group of visiting shooters from Lithgow and Katoomba Clubs swelled the numbers despite the cold weather on the day.

Target Rifle Class was top scored by visiting shooter John Eggenhuizen with Graeme Bright next best and top scorer of the Bathurst shooters competing for the trophy. Another visiting shooter Rob Logue finished next followed by Gordon Shepherd with Charlie Bennett close behind and ahead of John Coghill.

Local shooter Jeff Eppleston top scored in F Class with a three super centre lead over Geoff Willis and then followed by Graham Willis one point away and scoring eleven super centres with Jeff Gates next just four super centres behind. New shooter David Butler did well shooting consistently to finish another point down just holding off visiting shooter Ray Berger on a count back. Nick Webster didn’t settle until his second stage shoot to finish a further point down ahead of visitor Sig Sovik and then Mal Wright two points away with Phil Mahon tailing the field after trouble holding a group during his second stage.

Graeme Bright won the W Northcott Memorial Trophy with Jeff Eppleston runner up. Next shoot will be from 300 yards on the 18th January for the start of the Diggers & G James Cups.
