Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 4^th July 2020, 300 yards Diggers & G James Cups.

          A full complement of the regular shooters came along for the fourth stage of the Diggers & G James Cups Competition last Saturday shooting from 300 yards. A cold breeze from the west to south west only settled for short periods and mostly varied continuously in strength and direction to catch most shooters with a drop off or a gust at least once.

          In Target Rifle Graeme Bright continued his consistent form of late to finish one point ahead of the trio Gordon Shepherd, Ron Gibson and Steve Williams with Shepherd claiming the highest count of centre bulls for the day and Gibson finishing with the best stage shoot for the day. Dennis Lavelle finished next six points behind the group followed by John Coghill who suffered some rough conditions to finish his second stage.

          The F Class shooters perhaps fared a little better overall for the day with visiting shooter Terry Howell showing all how it should be done for his first stage putting all his shots in the centre. Graham Willis and Ben Wright returned fresh after a break to finish as the top scoring F Class club shooters only one point behind with Willis scoring twelve super centres over Wright with two. Col Howell and Jeff Eppleston finished two points further down separated by one super centre. Geoff Willis had a good first stage start but got lost later on to be another point down and one point ahead of Nick Webster who picked up points with a good second stage. Phil Mahon had trouble keeping them in the centre during his first stage and even a good second stage result couldn’t close the gap for him.  

          Next Saturday 11^th July will be another Club Championship round from 500 yards and the fifth round of the Diggers & G James Cups.
