Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 6th February 2021, F A Wilde Trophy 600 Yards.

Competition for the last round of the F A Wilde Trophy was held on Saturday in magnificent weather with sunshine and just a little wind drifting through from a mostly north westerly direction but occasionally attempting to swing slightly from the east. Surprisingly there was enough movement in the air to keep scoring below what some shooters may have hoped for.

Graeme Bright again scored consistently to lead the field in Target Rifle finishing with a one point advantage over Steve Williams who started off with a strong first stage score. Dennis Lavelle started a bit slower but with a good score for his second stage finished just one point further down and one point ahead of Gordon Shepherd who had some great grouping in his second stage but couldn’t catch the leaders. Ron Gibson finished next down the list one point ahead of John Coghill who lost points after losing concentration due to equipment problems.

Geoff Willis held on to the lead in F Class finishing one point ahead of Jeff Eppleston with Phil Mahon just one point further away with the more consistent scoring of those shooters keeping them four points ahead of the next group of shooters led by Graham Willis who finished one point ahead of Nick Webster followed by Auskir Berryman another point away. New members Khoby West-Kennett and Charlie Bennett have commenced learning ‘the art of rifle shooting’ beginning as coached shooters and it must be a thrill each time they score in the centre.

The F A Wilde Trophy was won by Geoff Willis (297.33) with runner up Dennis Lavelle (297). Next shoot is Saturday 27th March at 700 yards for the start of the C R Kelly Cup.
