Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 10th April 2021, C R Kelly Cup 800 Yards.

The second round of the C R Kelly Cup was contested on Saturday at 700 yards in fine weather although the cold winds were starting to arrive with the predominately and sometimes strong west to north westerly breeze giving an increased level of difficulty with changes in strength and direction continuing during the afternoon.

Top Target Rifle shooters Steve Williams and Graeme Bright handled the conditions best, both only dropping one point for the day with Steve taking the days honours by four centre bulls. Ron Gibson started the day holding a great group losing just one point in his first stage to finish next down and two points ahead of Gordon Shepherd who lost a few points in the first stage but finished his second stage with a group that F Class shooters would have been happy with on the day. John Coghill finished one more point away next after holding well in his first stage with Dennis Lavelle holding well but losing too many points to the variable conditions during his second stage to finish another six points down.

A good roll up of F Class shooters were led by new shooter Khoby West-Kennett who held the rifle consistently well to finish just one super centre in front of visiting F Open shooter Mal Wright with Geoff Willis one point further behind after losing points later in the day. Graham Willis finished next a further two points down with his grouping of shots not as tight as preferred followed by new shooter Charlie Bennett who held well in the first stage but lost points to some rough conditions in his second stage and finished with a one super centre advantage over Jeff Eppleston for the day. Auskir Berryman followed with one point less scoring too many wide shots to the wind during his first stage then holding much better in his second stage to finish one point ahead of visiting shooter Luke Harris and Phil Mahon two points further down both holding good elevation but losing points to the wind changes.

Saturday 17th April will be the final round of the C R Kelly Cup at 900 yards.
