Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 13th July 2019. 900yds. C R Kelly Cup.

Saturday’s third and final round of the CR Kelly Cup and 900 yards championship round saw the shooters who decided to venture outdoors dealing with a day of bitterly cold and gusting westerly wind varying from approximately 25 to 40 kph easing at times later in the afternoon.

Steve Williams again led the TR shooters as he skilfully lost only three points in the trying conditions and claimed ten centres with Gordon Shepherd five points away after having his shots blown about too much in his first stage. Graeme Bright finished the day a further four points down after scoring in the magpie three ring too many times.

F Class shooters fared no better with their scoped rifles in the unfriendly weather with Jeff Eppleston topping the scores with a loss of eleven points followed by Ben Wright four points away although managed five super centres in his total. New member Hayden Booth bravely showed up to gain more experience and considering the conditions he finished up reasonably well in third spot off rifle for the day. Visitor Toby Croaker also did quite well for the day scoring only one super centre less in the cold and gusty wind.

The CR Kelly Cup was won by Gordon Shepherd (291 ¼) with Graeme Bright (287 ¼) runner up.

Next week is the first round of the J Sibera Trophy from 300 yards.

                                                                                                                                by  Geoff Willis
