Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 25^th May 2019. 900yds. Secretary’s Trophy.   

           We had another magnificent day to be outdoors on Saturday with a west to slightly north-westerly breeze at about 14 k/h early in the afternoon and 10 k/h later on with the occasional steady period followed by a bit of a swing to the north as it dropped in strength. It was possible at times to get lucky with a steady patch and a few were able to capitalise on that period.

           In TR class Dennis Lavelle continued his great form of late and was only beaten on a countback for the days CoW by a strong finishing Graeme Bright. Gordon Shepherd was a couple of points off the pace on each of his stages this week and while keeping good elevation, his shots in the second stage suffered too much lateral dispersion.

           In F class Geoff Willis got straight to the task with a handy 59.7 first stage which helped ensure the days CoW position with runner up Graham Willis seven points away after a slow start in his first stage. Ben Wright finished only one point further off the lead with some elevation issues and a gust of wind holding his scores back. Col Howell decided to have another go at 900 yards displaying his characteristic good elevation grouping of shots but suffered from the variables of the breeze. Angus Ogilvie again using the club rifle started both stages with bursts of brilliance but unknown forces seemed to intervene on both occasions with the second stage having a couple of unexplained wide shots.

           The Club Championship is now concluded with TR winner Graeme Bright and runner up Steve Williams, the F Class winner is Graham Willis and runner up Geoff Willis.

           Next Saturday we will be back at 800 yards for the second round of the Secretary’s Trophy.
