Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 28th May 2022 W & J Browne Consolation Trophy 600 yards.

Saturday was the last shoot for the Bathurst Rifle Club calendar year from 600 yards with mostly overcast weather and a cold south westerly breeze that proved difficult for shooters with the sudden drops in wind strength resulting in lost points.

Target Rifle shooter Graeme Bright handled the conditions best losing just one point to each stage to lead by two points with Gordon Shepherd dropping too many points in his first stage score to catch up. Ron Gibson scored consistently to finish next one point ahead of Dennis Lavelle with John Coghill following a few points further away.

Most of the F Class shooters started with a reasonable score in their first stage but Jeff Eppleston had the strongest finish to claim the top spot four points ahead of Nick webster with Phil Mahon finishing another point down for the day. Gary Café has just started to learn the F Class discipline and showed great promise in his first shoot at the 600 yards range achieving a five points improvement from his first stage score to his second during the afternoon.

Next Saturday shooting will be at 700 yards for the start of the new club calendar. This will be the Northcott Memorial Trophy shoot and the club will also host the BMDRA F Class Standard shoot off. The W & J Browne Consolation Trophy was won by Nick Webster and the Treasurers Trophy was won by Geoff Willis (399.25) with Graeme Bright runner up (393.39).
