Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 9th September 2023 The first Series of the 2024 Bathurst Rifle Club program was severely disrupted by unscheduled works carried out adjacent to the range with just half of the scheduled number of events completed and missing both 800 yard events but the final event from 900 yards was held as planned on the 26th August. The handicap winners of the first series are: TRA- Graeme Bright (295.5), TRB- John Coghill (399.5), F Class Standard- Phil Mahon (593.41), F Class Open- Mal Wright (583.09, Sporter Class- J Clarke (300). The first event of the second series was held at 300 yds on the 2nd September where it was great to see four new shooters come along to try out long range shooting. In TR Class Dennis Lavelle shot very well dropping only one point to lead Steve Williams by just one centre bull. Phil Mahon shot well to top the scores in F Class Standard.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 19th August 2023 700 yards Series 1/10 Saturdays cold and windy weather saw only a small field of keen shooters compete at 700 yards for the second last round of the First Series of the 2024 season. The westerly breeze varied during the afternoon moving at up to 20kph with just a few steady patches to make good scores difficult to achieve. John Coghill was the only Target Rifle shooter to brave the conditions and despite the weather scored above handicap on the day. Jeff Eppleston top scored the F Class standard shooters with a good lead over Phil Mahon followed by Graham Willis a couple of points away.

A return to shooting at 600 yards for the ninth round of the first Series in our shooting calendar attracted sixteen+ shooters for what was perhaps the best shooting conditions experienced for some time with just a slight westerly breeze lifting the flags on occasion. This allowed more than half the field to achieve scores to their handicap or better.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 3rd June 2023 300 yards Series 1/1 The start of Series 1 of the 2024 shooting program from 300 yards saw very good conditions with just an occasional lifting of flags from the west which allowed the majority of shooters to score to their handicap. Target Rifle shooter Gordon Shepherd started well dropping just one point during his first stage to hold on to the lead taking the cock of walk position for the day a couple of points ahead of Dennis Lavelle, John Coghill and Graeme Bright each separated by one point. James Clarke shooting in Sporter Class had his best day yet gaining a double possible with fourteen super centres to finish with a very big smile in contrast to Geoff Willis who tried out his Sporter class equipment only to make several costly errors to destroy his scores.
