Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 28th October 2023, 800 yards Series 2 Match 5 Saturday’s competition from 800 yards turned out to be a very difficult day for most shooters as the unpredictable north westerly breeze occasionally swung to north easterly with changing mirage conditions that affected at least one stage for each shooter. Those that were lucky enough may have enjoyed a few minutes of steady wind or a lack of it. Steve Williams completed both stages without a point lost while gaining ten centre bulls to top the Target Rifle shooters followed by Graeme Bright who shot well in his first stage but couldn’t keep the pressure up during his second stage. Dennis Lavelle could have done much better if not for a shot that failed to register on the correct target during his first stage with John Coghill and Gordon Shepherd just not consistent enough in hitting the bull’s eye.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 22nd October 2023, BRC Open Prize Meeting 2023 After several weeks interruption to the shooting program due to the car races, Bathurst Rifle Club returned to the range and with the previous months of preparation completed by many hardworking members the club was ready to host the first BRC Open Prize Meeting to be held in several years. The recent upgrades to the shooting points and other facilities set the stage for a great day of shooting. The club used its own three electronic targets on this occasion so numbers were restricted but with a total of thirty-nine shooters competing it was a full program to manage for the day. All members worked together making it one of the best run and enjoyable events held by the Bathurst Rifle Club in some time. The cool south westerly breeze started early with the variable wind conditions turning it on to make one of the more challenging days for shooting at the Bathurst range.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 16th & 23rd September 2023 The last couple of weeks has seen the completion of the third and fourth rounds in Series 2 of the Bathurst Rifle Club calendar from 600 and 700 yards with the scores at the more challenging 700 yards range suffering the most. At the 600 yards range Steve Williams top scored in Target Rifle class with Dennis Lavelle next continuing his good results of late. James Clarke appears to have sorted his recent equipment upgrade out scoring well in Sporter class. The F Class shooters were led by Jeff Eppleston who has been shooting well lately with Ben Wright coming along to show he can still keep them in the middle finishing just a couple of points away.
