Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 3^rd February 2024, 700 yards, Series 3 Match 4. 

          The Series 3 Match 3 competition from 600 yards held on Saturday 27^th January saw shooter numbers down with five club members attending the Kings Series State Championship at Anzac Range Malabar from 26-28th January; with two club members competing in Target Rifle Class, two in FTR Class and one in Sporter Class. The extreme heat conditions followed by the very strong winds that came through during the first day of competition resulted in several issues including poor ammunition quality and broken target frames that needed repair before competition continued affecting some shooters and the days shooting program.

          Saturday 3^rd February’s competition for Series 3 Match 4 from 700 yards was held in very hot weather with a southerly breeze that continually shifted from south east to south west making it difficult for most shooters to achieve scores near to their handicap. Shooters enjoyed some relief from the heat while shooting thanks to the club awnings that were erected.

          Steve Williams again dominated in Target Rifle Class managing a respectable score in the difficult wind changes with the next best Graeme Bright closely followed by Ron Gibson and then John Coghill. Sporter Class shooter James Clarke shot well although could not match his recent results on the Bathurst Range with visiting shooter John Lloyd giving some competition in the class on the difficult 700 yard target.

          Col Howell top scored in F Standard Class just ahead of Dave Butler and Nick Webster who were the only shooters to better their handicap while finishing just ahead of Phil Mahon for the day. Competing in F Open Class on the day, Jeff Eppleston top scored ahead of Geoff Willis and Mal Wright.

          Shooting will move back to 900 yards for next Saturday’s round of the series then there will be two weeks break before returning at 300 yards.
