Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 16th March 2024, 600 yards, Series 3 Match 9. 

          Saturdays overcast day provided some very easy weather to be outdoors for our second 600 yards shoot in Series 3 of the season. Light winds from the east early during the early afternoon soon changed to a light westerly with the flags often hanging down the pole which became more frequent later in the afternoon. The conditions allowed the majority of shooters to score close to or above their range handicap with two shooters gaining double possibles for the day.

          Steve Williams topped the Target Rifle shooters scoring a very nice double possible ahead of Graeme Bright with Ron Gibson holding on to finish next a few points ahead of John Coghill. Sporter Class shooter James Clarke again added to his collection of double possibles scored this season claiming sixteen centre bulls during the afternoon.

          Col Howell kept his good form going with another great result backed up by a second stage possible score to lead the F Class Standard group ahead of Jeff Eppleston with Phil Mahon following close behind. Tristan Hughes finished next in the group as he continues to practice his target shooting skills while I think Dave Butler may now have a break from his equipment trialling for short while at least. F Open class shooter Geoff Willis had a disappointing start with his first stage result but a second stage possible score helped him to finish ahead of Gary Cafe and Mal Wright. Visiting shooter Ben Hawkey tried out one stage of long range shooting for the first time coached by Gary Cafe with great results.

          Shooting will move back to 700 yards next Saturday 23^rd March.
