Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 6^th January 2024, 900 yards, Series 2 Match 12. 

          The final round of the second series for the year was held on Saturday from 900 yards with the mostly overcast weather making a great day for shooting. In a lesser version of the previous weeks conditions the light south westerly breeze came with a hazy mirage sight picture for the scope shooters at times as it moved around to a southerly then slowed before returning again from the south west with the degree of difficulty reflected by the scores not apparent until after shooting commenced.

          Graeme Bright managed well top scoring the Target Rifle shooters after dropping just one point in his first stage to then finish three points down for the day ahead of Steve Williams who struggled more than usual during his first stage score. John Coghill followed next one point ahead of Gordon Shepherd. Sporter Class shooter James Clarke had a bad start with his first stage shoot but regained confidence to finish with a great second stage score ahead of fellow Sporter class shooter Dennis Lavelle who retired early in his second stage.

          Phil Mahon topped the F Standard shooters for the day after an improved second stage result to finish one point ahead of Dave Butler with Jeff Eppleston next up followed by Nick Webster who started with a good first stage score but then ammunition issues held back what was likely a class leading result for the day. F Open shooter Geoff Willis complained of a couple of close lost points during his first stage but made extra effort to finish well in the second stage ahead of Ben Wright who would have been much happier without a missed shot during his second stage followed by Mal Wright who tightened his group later in the day in an effort to catch up.

          Shooting is planned to return to 300 yards next Saturday 13^th January for the start of our third series.
