Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 25^th June 2022, Digger & G James Cups 500 yards.

          The second round of the Diggers & G James Cups from 500 yards was held on Saturday in cold overcast weather with just a light south westerly breeze allowing most shooters to score very near or to their range handicap.

          Target Rifle class saw Graeme Bright top scoring after gaining the only possible score on the day for his first stage to lead Gordon Shepherd by two points. Charlie Bennett had a great day scoring consistently during both stages to achieve a PB at this range, while his weekly handicap has continued to drop over the last few months. John Coghill rounded out the TR shooters a further two points down after a slow start with his first stage.

          F Class was very tightly contested with Graham Willis leading Nick Webster and Geoff Willis by two super centres after a great second stage score with all three shooters three points down for the day. Phil Mahon tried hard to join the top group but one extra point lost during his first stage held him back with Jeff Eppleston also losing extra points early to finish a further two points down. Mal Wright accumulated nine super centres during the afternoon and would have been near the leaders if not for a missed shot during his second stage. New shooters Jen Butler and David Butler may have had their own competition going as they tried out their new gear but daughter Jen managed to score one extra point each stage for the day. Visiting shooter James Clarke again tried out his hunting rifle and improved considerably for his second stage score.

          Next week will be the third round of the Diggers & G James Cups from 600 yards.
