Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 27th July 2019. 500yds. J Sibera Trophy.

Saturday gave shooters a mild day for the second round of the J. Sibera Trophy with light winds averaging from the south as they blew towards the shooters faces but continually switching from either side and not all at the same time they caused trouble for all but a few. Several visitors and new members have boosted attendances lately and have given the Bathurst Rifle Club’s new 8 sensor electronic targets some good use over the last couple of weeks.

In TR class Graeme Bright and Steve Williams fought it out for top spot for the day, both only conceding one point each to the conditions with Graeme finishing two centre bulls ahead with a strong finishing second stage. Gordon Shepherd was next up three points ahead of new shooter Hayden Booth who had a great second stage at only his second week trying TR class. Ron Gibson accumulated six centre bulls finishing next up, one point ahead of Dennis Lavelle with John Coghill a further point behind although also gaining six centre bulls rounding out the tail enders.

In F Class visiting shooter Toby Croaker led the way one point ahead of club shooter Graham Willis who accounted for ten super centres for the day. Next up in F class was new member Zara Coorey being coached by the current F Class club champion showing she can adapt to new disciplines quickly and finished up one point ahead of Nick Webster who couldn’t free himself of the bull’s eye ring for most of the second stage. Col Howell had a slow start for the day finishing next another point down and three points ahead of new member Nikita Booth who also showed skill in adapting to a new discipline. Angus Ogilvie who also recently came to the sport finished next up with another new club member Michael Phillips rounding out the F class shooters for the days score.

Next week we will be jumping ahead to the second round of the W & J Brown Shield from 800 yards then returning to 600 yards in a couple of weeks to finish the third and final round of the J Sibera Trophy.
