Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 4th May 2024, 900 yards, Series 4 Match 3.

Saturday’s threatening cool and possibly wet weather failed to dampen the enthusiasm of eight keen club members who competed in the Series 4 Match 3 event which was the final 900 yards event of the 2023-2024 season leaving just three more events finishing at 600 yards. The club awnings were erected which proved invaluable in allowing the days event to proceed safely and with relative comfort for most. The westerly breeze was difficult to read with the wet flags although remaining steady enough, resulting in all shooters who were able to compete in the light rain to score above their range handicap.

Graeme Bright managed to keep the wet from his sight and score well in Target Rifle Class but unfortunately John Coghill found the rain too difficult to manage affecting his sighting and was forced to retire early during his first stage. James Clarke scored well shooting in Sporter Class although a couple of low shots during his second stage held back another perfect score for him.

F Class Standard shooter Jeff Eppleston lost just one point during each stage to lead the class one point ahead of Dave Butler who had a great result for the day shooting well inside his handicap with Phil Mahon next in the class. F Open shooter Geoff Willis lost just one point during his first stage on the day to lead over Mal Wright who had steady results for the day and has been steadily lowering his handicap over recent weeks.

Next Saturday we move back to 300 yards for Match 4 of the final Series.
