Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 23rd December 2023, 700 yards, Series 2 Match 10.

Saturday’s final 700 yards range for the series started with the flags hanging at the side of the pole but the first shooters down appeared to not capitalise on those conditions with some reporting that gremlins were at play which was likely to have been the difficult to detect movement in mirage and a slight tail wind at times. Most shooters had to deal with the eventual northerly to north-westerly breeze and the difficult to see angle changes with the Target Rifle shooters faring best in the conditions although most F Class shooters kept within their handicaps.

Steve Williams shot consistently gaining the most centre bulls in Target Rifle to top score on the day with Graeme Bright finishing a few centres behind after scoring a satisfying possible for his second stage. John Coghill followed up next after gaining a good score for his first stage but dropped a couple points more than he would have liked during his second stage. Dennis Lavelle who competed in Sporter Class also scored well gaining a possible score result for his second stage.

Nick Webster top scored the big F Standard field on the day leading by several super centres over Col Howell, Jef Eppleston and Dave Butler all on the same points score with Phil Mahon a few points away tailing the field. Geoff Willis finished with a stronger second stage result to lead Mal Wright in F Open class for the day.
